How To Practice Safe Electro Sex Stimulation

May 24, 2018
By, laura

If you’re looking for a way to electrify your love life and put the buzz back in the bedroom, you might be interested in electro sex stimulation. Like licking a 9v battery, but for your whole body, this unique form of stimulation is designed to create sensations, unlike anything you’ve ever felt before. The result? Hands-free orgasms and some serious sensations in your nether regions. Talk about getting the sparks flying!

What is electro stimulation?

Electrostimulation is the use of small electrical currents to stimulate the genitalia and erogenous zones. As the human body is around 60% water, this makes it an incredible electrical conductor. There are many different types of electrostimulation toys including vibrators, butt plugs, probes, paddles and even gloves.

You can also purchase conductive pads which attach to the skin and can be controlled with a central unit. Attach one to yourself and one to your partner and any touch will complete the circuit resulting in electric fingertips. However, it’s important to make sure that you don’t create a circuit which will pass through the heart. The heart has its own sensitive electrical rhythm and it can be fatal to interfere with this. If you’re in doubt, never create a circuit between two people.

What does it feel like?

Most people wouldn’t put the words “electricity” and “genitals” together in the same sentence. We get that. Electrostimulation isn’t about zapping your partner to see their cartoon skeleton, it’s about increasing pleasure by stimulating the skin and causing the muscles to contract.

At lower settings, stimulation will feel similar to a slight tingling or tickling sensation. Turn it up to a moderate setting and it will feel similar to a strong vibrator. At higher intensities, it feels like pins and needles and you may feel your muscles contracting involuntarily. It takes some time to get used to, so it’s best to start with your device turned off and slowly turn up the intensity. The smaller the surface area, the higher the intensity, so a palm will feel very different to a fingertip.

While it might be an exciting and fast-growing new fetish, this method of making your tackle tingle isn’t for everyone. Before you get started, there are a few ground rules you will need to follow to make sure it’s fun for everyone involved. Starting with…

Safety First

You should read the instructions fully before using any of your electro stimulation toys. Although the current is low, there are still precautions you should take. If you have a heart condition or pacemaker, you shouldn’t use electrostimulation. Likewise, if you’re pregnant, have epilepsy, or a history of cardiac arrhythmia.

Devices should never be attached above the waist and should not be attached to any broken or irritated skin. A common myth is that the nipples are a good spot for electro sex stimulation. This couldn’t be further from the truth and devices should never be used above the waist.

It’s advised that you use a conductive gel to avoid any tenderness. If you have intimate piercings, it’s best to remove them before using any electrostimulation devices. The metal can concentrate the current and cause burns at higher settings, so it’s best to leave piercings out of the electrostimulation fun!

As you’re playing with electricity, you should NEVER use electrostimulation toys anywhere near water. A conductive gel can be used on all external toys and devices, while a water-based lubricant can be used for internal toys and devices. Silicone-based lube is unsuitable as it acts as an insulator, which will prevent the current from passing through.

Consent

This isn’t something you’re going to want to surprise anyone with. It’s a very strange sensation and most people will want to be prepared before they get zapped. While unlikely to be painful (unless you’re into that sort of thing and you turn everything up to 11) this is still a very intimate form of sexual play and you should make sure everyone is on board before you whip out your tingly new toys.

If this is your first time and either party is reluctant to hand over the controls, choose a safe word so you’re both more comfortable generating some buzz between the sheets. Like any other sex toy, it’s important to practice good hygiene and clean multi-use devices before moving to another part of the body. If you’re washing your device in water, make sure you turn it off before going anywhere near water.
